This site is intended as a self-help guide for adults with Social (Pragmatic) Communication Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and others with gaps in their social skills. Emerging linguistics aficionados may find it appealing too.
It is not written by a professional, nor is it an official treatment manual. ASD being a widely varying condition, this site will probably be relevant to only some of the people on the spectrum. My hope is that this collection will help those who are missing an intuitive insight into typical people’s behavior and communication, and who are also past the stage of childhood or young adulthood. This is an attempt at an adult manual of theory of mind.
Academics in the fields of Linguistics, Evolutionary Psychology and Cognitive Science do not take the rules governing human behavior for granted; and through research, they have arrived at interesting insights.
If you are an adult and an Aspie, I invite you to start with an introduction to Pragmatics.
This site was launched on July 1, 2014 and is a work in progress.
